professional Millicent Howe (known as Millie to the Hair color and
design world) from the Andrew Jose Academy, Prague visited Delhi,
India for the first time and conducted a hair coloring workshop /
seminar for a select few hair professionals at Hotel Park Royal on
the 1st of February 2005.
According to Millie understanding color chemistry is the key to
trendy hair creativity. She discussed all the aspects of Indian
and Asian hair. She shared some valuable tips, methods and
procedures regarding hair color and hair colouring
techniques.
Millie went on to say " Indian hair is rich, dark, heavy,
lustrous and generally very long. Whenever you color your hair you
must choose a colour which suits not just the skin color but also
the color of the eyes. I generally check out a few things before I
color my clients hair, to name a few - skin color, eye color, face
shape and the jewelry. Yes the jewellery because it personifies
the individual trend and style".
She recommended golden brown, honey blonde and chestnut brown hair
colors for women with fair skin and brown eyes. Copper hair color
and streaks for tanned skin with dark or brown eyes. Streaks of
red and violet for dark complexion skin and eyes.

Millie suggested the usage of horse shoe technique along with the
application of two, three and / or even more color shades. She
mentioned the usage of treatment conditioner instead of normal
hair conditioners.
Basic coloring, creative coloring, foiling technique, tint
technique, color correction, softer colors, blending of tones,
hair balance and consistency and combination technique were the
highlights of the workshop.
During the lunch break Millie and Seema discussed and exchanged
some valuable suggestions in respect to the organized, certified
and formal education requirements, career prospects, trends and
patterns in regards to global hairdressing and beauty therapy
schools, businesses and courses.
Millie shall be conducting similar workshops in Chandigarh, Pune,
Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore and Chennai for Schwarzkopf.
